canon MR-14EX Ring flash

Is this flash a Cake or Death when it comes to snap macro's cause im looking to buy a flash for my 5D MKII to do... or is it better to get the 580EX to get a wider range of use than just macro shooting ?

probably better off with standard flash gun on bracket, ring flash tend to produce very flat lighting.

i just realized another question i have, extender tubes, are they any good using together with a macro lense!?

Another vote for getting the 580, you will use this for many more things other than just Macro.

Yes, tubes are great with a macro lens, many here, myself included use them this way.
