Anyone know of any cheap or preferably free Collage/Motage software, preferably downloadable.

Interested in any suggestions or any work anyone has done with digital photos.

I have tried Centarsia, its a free download and I like it, but others recommend Mosaic Creator. I have Photo Montage and its not worth the investment, very confusing to use.

FotoFusion (http://www.lumapix.com/) is a relatively inexpensive and highly flexible tool for creating collages. They do have a trial download.

For something like that I'd use layers to create my own JUST the way I wanted it. GIMP is an excellent free program if you didn't get Elements with your cam.

Thanx all for you suggestions, when I asked the question I was not really sure what I wanted or what was available, but thanx to the suggestions above I have found lots and all are better than expected. So far I have tried PhotoPuzzle, PhotoTile and Centarsia. Centarsia is the best so far with one minor thing, there web site link is broken, I downloaded it from Computer Active where is says that you can obtain a serial number from there site free that allows you to use more than 400 mini images to create the mosaic, so if anyone knows where I can get this serial number I would be very grateful.

The results are pretty amazing. There is little point posting the results as when the image is reduced you can not see how the picture is made up of hundreds of other photos, but I recommend anyone with 15 minutes to spare to try it, it is great fun and you will be amazed at the results.

I have also downloaded two other trial versions of mosaic software that I have yet to try, Ezmosaic and Fractura2 so I am looking forward to trying them.

I have posted a simple example at the link below, go to group "photo mosaic" The actual results are even better, had to reduce the size to speed the upload.

Thanx for all the suggestions again, I am off now to do some more experimentation.

BlueTit - On the Centarsia web site the author listed these as he claims not to have time dealing with registrations anymore.

User ID: webuser
Serial Number: 09765-44986-1205716296

Let me know if it works for you as I'm interested in Centarsia as well. Be sure to post any mosaics you create with it... or at least Email them to me if you don't mind. Thanks.

Hi Sn@ve

Thanx for the serial number, it was unavailable at the time I downloaded the software, but I got it since. It works fine. As mentioned above I found other software too, the only other one I found any good is phototile, but I think Centarsia is the best. I have not used it much, always intend to but ever get around to it - thanx for the reminder.

I have a couple of examples online at http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluetit/sets/343847/

see what you think and if you have any queries, let me know.

Check out Arcsoft PhotoMontage at www.arcsoft.com (http://www.arcsoft.com).

Very cool piece of software to create montages. Friends who saw my work (printed on 12" X 18") were very impressed.
