I am looking at either the Cactus V4's or the CTR-301P for my 40d and Vivitar 285HV set up. At the moment I have 1 Viv but am looking at picking up a second so it would be the 1 transmitter 2 reciever setup that I will buy... I am completely new to off camera flash and am having a hard time understanding what all is needed to make this work. Can I just buy either of these triggers, connect them, and fire away or are there other items needed such as adapters or cords or anything??! ???

Any help would be awesome! I hope to order these soon, but need to make sure I get what I need the first time.

Thanks!!

I recommend these. The build is better and they are more reliable than the V4s ( I have both)

Both of the triggers you are considering have hotshoe mounts so no problem connecting them Just power em up and fire away.

I wasn't too happy with my cactus triggers.. they were really unreliable at first. I did the antenna mod and the battery mod, and that seems to have really made a difference.

Thanks, I had found both of those threads in a search and that is how I had narrowed it down to those 2 setups. I have also been recomended the RF-602 setup by somebody on the strobist flickr group.

CTR-301P are very good. I have few of them and even use them on my monolights. However, this RF-602 looks very interesting so I ordered one set for testing. If okay, I might order more...
