Help required please. I download my 20D images via a USB2 card reader to PS7. In “Image Size” the resolution shows as 72ppi. When I had a 10D this came in automatically at 180ppi. In the camera I use “Large Normal” JPEG recording quality. Can anyone explain in simple language why the difference and how can I get 180ppi from my 20D. I know that I can increase the resolution to say 200ppi manually in PS, but this is a laborious process each time. Thanks in anticipation

The numbers you refer to have nothing to do with the resolution of the image itself, only the resolution of a print you intend to make.

In the PS image size window, UNcheck the "resample image" checkbox, and you can tell PS what size you want to print with the maximum possible resolution based on the print size and the image resolution (3504x2336 for an un-cropped frame).

Thanks very much for your quick reply. It has put my mind at rest now, I can relax ! Something so simple, but not knowing make it seem many times worse. I'll follow your instructions later when I have some time.
