you know what they say about big ears...... they can hear real well.

on a personal note, i will be glad this massacre of one of my favorite trilogies is ending. the first one was so painful to watch that i waited until the second came out of dvd so i could fast forward past all the horrible dialogue and ended up pretty much watching only the battle scenes. i'll do the same with episode 3, only for the sake of finishing the series. i do have to say that lucas is a HORRIBLE director and screenwriter, and i hope he never directs another movie again.

fast forward past all the horrible dialogue Siskel & Ropert had a LOT to say about that last night. I can put up with most of that (except the JarJar fiasco), but he holds my respect for pioneering the techniques using computer control & Nikon lenses to get some great image sequences back when the height of SF technique was a saucer hanging from fishline. (With the exception of the very well done "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

dont get me wrong, i love the fact that he is a pioneer for imaging techniques and technologies. i think its great how he also uses digital cameras instead of film and ilm (industrial lights and magic) is just amazing. im just disappointed in the other aspect of directing, which is telling the story. right now, the first two episodes were just a showcase of technology but no story. i found myself only musing how cool the special fx and fighting sequences were but wasnt drawn into the movie as i was for the original trilogy. technique and effects should be used to supplement the movie, not be the main theme. basically, the first two (and maybe the third one as well) says 'hey, look how awesome our effects are, and we're using digital cameras. forget the story crap, just look at how pretty it is'. so basically, he's not a successful director in the sense that he only focused on one aspect. here are two other examples of how effects and technology have been used correctly and incorrectly to drive the story along/hurt the movie:

correctly: lord of the rings trilogy; the matrix
incorrectly: the matrix sequels.

Yep. I agree with 4nR. Story telling skill is zilch. I got my tickets for the midnight showing of EP3. The sooner it ends, the faster I can go on with life. I am so sad that one of my favorite series have been slaughter. But I am in joy that it is finally over.
