My first shots of flowers and butterflies

I just bought an XT a few weeks ago and am brand new to photography also. Still pretty much don't know what the heck the ISO, and all the other settings are, but still impressed with the camera. These are in the close up presets of the camera settings.

What is a good place to start in the "Creative Settings" to get the same effect and start branching out?

Nice photos, especially the second one. Start with "P" it is still automatic but give you more options, allowing you to adjust shutter speed and or exposure, which will let you see what effect they have on your photos. There are more experienced photographers on here that may have a better suggestion for you.
