this lot of pictures are just beautiful
took me a while getting back to them and looking at them all
remarking on just a few which are especially nice
must have been chilly while you were there,
but very beautiful

'brilliant ice' is just that, brilliant , in many ways
and 'ice on water' is fabulous, like fingers walking
'sitting snow' is like candy floss with sticks coming out
the top

'snow on pole' is terrific
looks a bit like what is sometimes called 'power houses' over here. the snow looks like smoke oozing out of the top of same

'old stump' is lovely. (a bit like an octopus : )
all the tree stumps are lovely
Its a favourite subject of mine over years
the snow on 'pine logs' looks like icing sugar sprinkled on top, really lovely natural subjects to capture like it
'frozen net' almost looks like beads

all of these are beautiful .............
'snow on brown leaves'
'ice on green'
'frozen plant'
'Ice structure at the creek'
'young pine trees'

'snow in afternoon sun '
the atmosphere can be almost felt

'young pine trees'
'close up'
and the ice around the 'tiny waterfall' ...is really n..ice

the animated pictures are terrific.
I saw most of them but not all (yet) as the downloading takes a while
'take off A330' is beautiful
the plane looks as though it dips slightly just after it rises and as it leaves the picture : )
'speeding on the freeway',
its so clear, as is the lovely water shot
the cows munching away and nearly knocking their heads together is funny

loved your other pictures also
The moon shots are just wonderful
'crescent' & 'earth light' especially
and saturn, and mb1 imb2
and orion nebula ,where you held your breath hoping....
all are terrific

also loved the arerdymanics pictures very much
all of them
especially
'edelweiss a330'
avro rj100
embraer 145... on short final ,
and others

the flower and animal shots are all so beautiful
right to the flower with the title 'last of its kind in the garden'

the image of the magnificent proud turkey and the chest is very detailed
also the swan gliding so gracefully, beautiful feathers ruffled
all are so clear

they are all really nice thoughtful shots

regards
marie

Marie,
The detailed comments you made on my collection of pictures are so rich. I'm just an average amateur who has re-discovered photography with the possibilities that are available with digital technology.

I really appreciated all your comments, and I'm happy to be able to share something.

Thanks ernst,
(while I am here just now, I will reply )
yes, your pictures are terrific and give a lot of pleasure . no doubt to you also as well as others
and am glad I got the chance to see them.
it started last week when you were onto another section about something or answering something (canon g2's I think)
I took a look at your shots then and wanted to get back to them and let you know , so here then was the opportunity

best wishes
marie

ps
by the way ..........
last night I stayed up very late and had all what I wanted to say about your pictures completely ready to post here to you, but a nightmare happened , the computer crashed when I had completely finished ,
and I lost everything
I went to bed, as it was after 2am
but knew you had to be told
so , I woke up early and did it all again.
it would have been a shame not to let you know what I was thinking about your gallery
life is short enough : )

Marie,
in the mean time I looked at your pictures. It's just great how a picture can express so many details. Your story how your computer behaved so bad that your nice comments were lost late at night... well retyping all this again for me is a great gesture. I can appreciate it.
I was just reading it once again. Thanks.

(in the mean time I looked at your pictures)
ernst quote above

oh no
) :
I haven't fixed up those galleries properly at all yet (someday)
I had taken some pictures off a few days ago until I try and sort it out properly, as some pictures ...I noticed, were repeated here and there on the pbase site I have
I don't display it too much , perhaps not until its more presentable

I tried your 'village water fountain' animated picture later today but it didn't download too well at the time. there seemed to be pressure on the server as the pbase site didn't download properly either, just at a certain time .
maybe too many logging on all together
will try again another time
it doesn't happen too often.
why it crashed last night was, I think, because when I was waiting for your animated shots to download I went on with something else and had too many things going at the same time (on the computer) and it objected then and froze stiff, just like your snow scenes : )
meant to say some of your other shots were like paintings ('after sunset' was one I think )

thanks again and keep shooting

Marie,
yes I know my animated pictures are having a big file size. They need some time to download. Some of the pictures I had to downsize. The fountain picture is one of the big ones in pixel dimension (640x480) because it is composed with a sequence of only three shots. If you like to know more about all this, you may write me to the email address that is given at the copyright notes.
Have a nice week.

The photos are great... very thoughtful. I have looked at most of them... will come back and look at the rest.

In the meanwhile, I need some help in using my G2. I just recently purchase the G2, and have started using the Auto mode settings. I tried using some of the Manual settings, and failed miserably. All the photos I took in Manual mode came out badly.... either the photo was shaken, or the focus wrong etc. I would like to start using the Manual setting and want to learn how they can be used and what combination will work for great shots.. I appreciate your help with this.

Also, did you take these photos with the base camera (without any accessories)?

thanks

Your animated section puts a whole new meaning to the words "still life". It reminds me of the 1st Harry Potter film where photos and paintings move.
Good imagination, shots of the sun were brill.

Keep up the good work.

To Prince99:

Thanks for your comments. Taking good pictures is a learning process. But with a digital camera this process can be much faster than with a traditional camera. The 'trial and error' loop is quicker and doesn't cost anything.

Before going to M (manual mode) I suggest you use P (pogram mode) In P you see the time and apperture values the camera is setting. You can then go to M and set these values that were measured in P manually into the camera. Don't forget to set also the focus manually.

I use M for my animated shots and also for astro shots.
My "normal" mode is P but sometimes I also use Av and Tv.
Many shots are taken with the bare camera. But I use close up lenses (+7 and + 10) for some macro shots.
I also use a Tiffen x2 teleconverter for some cases.
If you have more specific questions that you think I can share with you some of my know-how, you may ask me
by using the email address that is given at the copyright note of the pictures.

Thanks Ernst for the tips... I tried a few shots and they came out ok. I am having this problem with P or M mode. Whenever the camera is in P or M mode, the camera dislays the "camera shaking" symbol every single time.

Is this normal... even when I place the camera in the table and try, the symbol appears. What could be the reason behind this.

Thanks for your help. Appreciate it !!

They symbol "camera shaking" is not to be interpreted as a fact that the camera is shaking. You should see it as a warning "don't shake the camera".
It is displayed whenever there is a long exposure time programed. An apperture of 5.6 and/or low light light conditions will result in an exposure time of anything longer than 1/60 sec. This will display the symbol.

I have just put up a new gallery that shows some of the beauty of winter.

It's not perfect, but still nice.

Enjoy!

They are just beautiful

without it being so cold we wouldn't have seen such detail, so thanks ernst for capturing the freezing wonderful patterns
I love them
