Here is my first attempt at a high key portrait. So any advice, comments?

IMO, I think it's too blown out around her head. The lighting on her face is well done yet her eyes are a little dark. Other than that, pretty good for first portrait. I know I couldn't shoot a portrait that well.

high key with a blond is difficult if the hairline is washed. the light on the subject is flat.

Studio highkey will use a white background and light the model with a softbox creating dimension on the subject.

Because you are using the sun to back light the subject i recommend using a small reflector to side light the subject which will add dimension to the subjects face.

As you have discovered a good high key image is hard to create. In the above image, the background exposure was too much and the exposure on her face was not enough! The difference between the two should be no more than 1 1/2 stops. Any more than this and you will get what you have above, blown out hair and sometimes ghosting, depending on the position of the flash units on the background.

I think you made some good asthetic choices. I would add some selective sharpening of the mouth and eyes, as well as brightening of the eyes in post
