Are using using Epsons Photo Enhancement thing. By factory default it is not checked so he might not have his checked and u might. The enhancer tends to make the pics brighter. Thats the only thing i can think of if ur using identical equipment/profile/materials

Wow, that could be why my R-800 is printing so dark also...I also do not want to adjust photos as viewed on my screen...Where is the photo enhancement located ??(I'm not at home with my computer right now so I can't look)

just tried the photo enhance option which didn't work.going to splash the cash on some profiling gear as it's important to get it right.

I spent almost an hour on the phone with tech support and was told that the controls on the printer for photo enhancement, etc, only work when you are printing from the printer--pictbridge, etc. If you print from the computer, those settings are over-ridden. I think this printer prints dark, muddy colors, and not very crisp. I'm not happy with it, even after several calls to tech support and reinstalling software several times.

Doesn't Epson now come with PIM3 plugin for Photoshop to help all the people with this sort of problems?
