Funny idea, but I think it won't work...

I'm surprised at the comments saying it works. I'd just expect to get a small, dark, unfocused circle of light on the sensor.

not sure if microscopes are the same, but people in my bio lab were using P&S cameras to take photos of what they saw through the microscope eye-pieces, just like that, and some turned out decent.

I've actually done that with a camera phone and binoculars and it works fine. Those of us who spend time on gun or hunting forums have surely seen plenty of pics taken through rifle scopes. The hard part is that you cannot just press the camera against the eye piece, you have to hold the camera at the exact distance that your eye would normally be when looking through the optic. Bincoulars are easier since the eye is normally less than inch away, rifle scopes normally have 3-4 inches of eye relief so holding everything aligned just right can be a pain.

It does work, I've done it with a microscope. However you end up having to crop a lot because of vignetting. That and unless you have a good set of optics you end up with something similar to the IQ from some of the mirror lenses. :)

Ah that's a good one.
