...by all accounts. These guys were leading and lapping pretty quickly. Here they are simultaneously checking their watches as they complete another lap...

your photos are always so well exposed - far lighter than I would produce by eye but always seem to work - how much 'processing' do you do at the computer?
I've read before that you use a hand held light meter - does it ever get it wrong?

I know what you mean. What initially drew me to the image when I was reviewing my pics was that the guy on the right is wearing his watch on his right wrist and vice-versa!There's a kind of odd symmetry going on... Hmmm....

I deal with quite of a lot of images often on fairly tight deadlines, so I try to do the minimum possible post-processing!! That's why I like to get the exposure as close as possible first time round. I use an incident reading from the handheld meter for my base setting - I may tweak this slightly once I've taken a test shot and looked at the histogram. The lightmeter reading is generally pretty close though and I'm only likely to adjust by 1/3 of a stop or so.

Well, I'm a walker but not for sport. Someone once described walking as a sport a bit like " a whispering competition in which the winner whispers the loudest".

BTW : Excellent shot!

BTW : Excellent shot! Thanks BobL! It has to be said that these two guys were moving a fair bit faster than some of the runners I saw!

Pete... I use my trusty Gossen Variosix F (now replaced by the Variosix F2) wich does a good job for me - you can pick them up on e-bay from time to time for under £100.

Another solid choice would be the Sekonic L358, which can be found for under £200 and has had some excellent reviews.

Hope that helps.
