I am hiring a makeup (and hair) artist this weekend for a shoot with my girlfriend as the model.

Just curious is there anything I should keep in mind to avoid a basic rookie mistake? Anything from ettiquete to logistics to technique...?

She will be providing 2 looks (1 natural & 1 more artistic).

Basically, after your first shoot with a MUA -- did you walk away thinking "Hey I should have done 'this/that' differently"? Or is it not much different.

I'm a bit nervous about her just being there watching me shoot while waiting to apply the 2nd look. I'm hoping I don't allow myself to feel rushed and miss some shots with the 1st look.

Take some pics for the MUA, like close ups of her work. Keep her happy. Be sure to send her copies of the pictures.

Your hiring the MUA, so don't feel rushed, she is being compensated.

It took me quite a few shoots w/ a MUA before I figured anything out about MU. Now I know a little, but would like to learn more.
