I have the contract for the T&I this year for our local youth football league. Historically the photos have been taken outside. The league has tossed around the idea of having them done indoors at the high school field house/indoor football field.

If done indoors what backgound do you experienced T&I shooters recommend? The floor is artificial turf and there is a large white brick wall that will be used. I was thinking of covering the wall with paper but I'm not sure about the abrupt transition from the paper to the turf.

I'm also concerned about the individual shots and what to do for a background there. I was thinking seamless.

We may just go back outdoors but the has its own issues of weather, wind, sun, etc. But having the greenery and smooth transitions are nice.

Ideas are appreciated!

for team outdoors weather permitting... early morning facing away from the sun with off camera strobes for fill.

Indoors, do you happen to know if they have field goals inside? if so, Id shoot so that you could see the field goals.

IF you shoot them indoors just use the white walls, for the team you should be fine bringing in a couple of strobes and umbrellas, I shoot teams inside sometimes as large as 60. sometimes in the bleachers for the larger teams, for the individual shots get them a good distance from the wall and use an umbrella or a softbox. I will shoot wide open at 2.8 most times to blur the background and everyone is very pleased so the backgrounds aren't that big of a deal, for most sports I had a custom 20 ft wide grey backdrop sewn together and use that but if you have a clean white wall that would work as well

The issue I have with the white walls are the white jerserys they will be wearing. The teams colors are black, white and red. I was thinking of putting up red paper on the wall for the background. The team has white and black jerseys. I want to avoid the all black look with black pants because it tends to blend together.
