here it goes:
I keep a uv or skylight filter on my lenses (not trying to start a thread on personal opinions as to the value of that). When using a CP filter, should I leave the protection filters in place, or remove them and just use the creative filter?
Thanx,

really depends...i used to have a polarizer (sold it with a lens, but will buy a new one sooner or later) and sometimes you don't really have the option to remove one filter and put the other on...in that case i would just stack them...ideally though i would imagine that you would only want the polarizer because its less glass the image has to go through and therefore probably less quality lost

Depending on the lens, a wide angle might cause more image problems due to the fact that the polariser would be further away from the lens.
Usually, the polariser is a considered filter (you know when you are going to use one) and is used for tripod mounted landscape shots. In this instance, it is worth removing the uv in good time.
It depends if you want every last drop of quality.
If you can't tell if you have or haven't removed it, you know your answer.

Steve, it would be best to remove all filters but the one you need at the moment. That would remove the extra glass surfaces that could cause a flare in the photo if there is any strong light source (or reflection) either in the subject area or close enough to it to hit the filter. A lens hood would help, of course, but might be impractical with the polarizing filter because you need to be able to rotate it for effect.
