Downloaded Photomatix today (the trial, hence the watermarks) and went out into the garden to take some quick photos to see what the program was capable of. I'm very impressed! :D

I'm aware that the photos are rubbish, they weren't intended to be any good, I just set my tripod up right outside my back door and took 3 shots using AEB for convenience. :p

Here's the result...

I'm seriously considering buying Photomatix... would it be a good investment, or are there better programs about?

That's an excellent photo for your first capture.

HDR is fun.

There are people using other programs for HDR, but I haven't heard anyone say even once that those programs were better than Photomatix, just cheaper or free-er, so-to-speak.

Everyone likes Photomatix. They just don't like the price.

I'd like to find a discount on it.

Thanks a lot for the comments and advice! :) I think I'll buy Photomatix before I go back to school next month if I've got the money, lol, so I'll post some more images soon!

Love your shot by the way grefox, it's a shame I don't have any cityscapes like that near me, it's so crappy around here! Hopefully I'll go up to Central London at some point though. :p

Thanks again,

Jack McEntire

Check this link out for an EDU discount from HDRSoft if you are a student (or teacher). I think they take 75% for photomatix - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=8356916&postcount=4

Thanks. :) Funny enough, I was just looking at that when you posted! :p Lol, I've saved the page in my favourites to show my photography teacher when I go back to school on the 7th, hopefully I'll be able to sort out all the details/documents needed to get the discount. :D

If you're a student it should only cost you 39 us dollars. That's about 20 pounds, I think.
