Well, I have no "insidious intent" of course, so took a walk instead at mid night, turned out to be fruitful (I think so at least), here are some for you to comment on. All welcome.

Unreal city.....

very nice building in the first shot
(golden glow)
it must be a nice walk when all is quiet at that time of night

I guess these were taken handheld

you'd be mugged if you brought your tripod..........
especially if wearing the potn strap
( other forum members probably are reduced to mugging ...by now)

very nice 'cone' shaped monument and coloured lighting in the second shot
are those moving shady people ( I mean shadowyhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif ) in the right hand corner of the second shot ?

hi, Marie, thank you for your comment, what do u mean by mugged and mugging? Yeah, these were taken handheld, I normal don't take my tripod during my night walk for I would get away quickly from whatever mishappenings, haha,,,it is not considered wise to walk out in the middle of the night, even in NEw Zealand!!!

First one is a church buliding, and the second one is of the square in the central city, you are right.,haaah, they are human beings, well, I believe so but couldn't remember,,,hahaha,,,,

The apparition of these faces in the crowd;

cheers...

[not considered wise to walk out in the middle of the night]

so working is even sillier? I remember walking thru those same streets at 3am a few months ago and there was only three or four people I saw in the 15 minute journey, all blotto!

but yes, definately worth taking one's camera.

Nice photos. I love night shots. There is something peaceful about any place at that time of night. These are really quite good and even more so for hand held shots.

And are the streets not safe in New Zealand cities?

Nice shots, the building in the first an interesting glow at night, I like the sculture in the second. I often walk at night, but don't feel too safe carrying a camera around too :-( seems to be asking for trouble, around here anyway.

Hi, Titus and BlueTit, totally agreed, even though New Zealand is a very safe country,it is not wise carrying a camera walking outside at night, especially a high chance to meet some drunkards (nothing against drinking here), even though most of the time they do no harm to you, I would normally back off when I meet them or confront them with a stick (or any objects nearby), enough to scare them off. but, considering all the factors, I still don't want my camera to get hurt, it is more precious than myself.

Hi, BlueTit, what's the situation in Dublin? Isn't it same from what I read in Ulysses? Stephen Dedalus and Leopold Bloom wandering the streets of Dublin.....a brilliant novel I have to say, but I never understand it (not even half of it). Joyce is a genius. Would be interesting if I will be able to walk around Dublin following Ulysses's map.

Cheers
