Photography Studio Rental

Hi everyone, I was wondering what your thought were on this. I'm just about done with my studio, my work is going to be by appt only. (Gotta have a "real" job too:( )
Anyway I was wondering if it would be worth letting people rent the studio. I was thinking about so much per day/hour. Do you think there would be a market for this? I would think there would be. There has to be some photographers out there who would like to work in a studio and dont have the money to build their own or have access to one. What do you think.

There are a number of studios in large markets that do this very thing. The trick, it would seem, is to get the word out in the right medium. Advertise where amatuer and freelance photographers are going to see it. That might sound obvious, but if it were then more people would do it.

Depends on where your studio is. If it's in your house, I'd say "No". If it's separate, and separately insured (with coverage against its use as a rental property), that's another question. How do you expect to control the use by renters? Are you (or your designated rep.) going to have to be around to let them in/assist them in using any equipment?

It is a commercial building I own, I live on the second floor. The studio is 13' X 20' and the total storefront is about 20' X 50' if you count the waiting room and everything. It was a pizza shop for a few years before that. I would be there to let them in/out or someone could be. As far as assisting them with the equipment, I would hope that whoever wants to rent it would have some experience, or I could stay and help the out... for a small fee;)

Oh and yes, since its a real business I have all needed insurance on equipment, building, personal injury etc.....

I'm desperately searching for studio space in Pgh -- If you're renting this space please let me know. If not, could you make any recomendations?
