First shots with my new lens. This is not the normal use of a wide angle lens. I had an event to shoot on Saturday night, and it was an event for 8 hours so I had tons of time to shoot and plenty of different angles. I use my Canon 28-105 90% of the time since it is light and perfect for the situations. Now if I would have just had my 70-200, f2.8 IS to use, it would have been really interesting.

Here is a few shots comparing the lenses. It is a totally new perspective. The first two are with the new 10-22, and the third one is a similar angle and type of shot with the 28-105 .

Nothing beats the perspectve manipulations that a real wideangle can manage easily. I love wideangles. Back in the 80, I used to go on vacation for a whole 3 weeks with only a 19mm. Nobody ever felt asleep during my slideshows. I'm not a great photographer, but this should mean something :D

Of the three, I feel the third one is the one that grabs my attention and keeps it.

Variety is the spice of life though.

Nah, I don't really like the third photo. Second one is my fave! Love the colors! Seems like a really sweet lens.

Thanks everyone,

I really wasn't going for comments on the photos themselves as a critique but just showing what the 10-22mm lens is capable of and how unique it can be out of the ordinary setting of nature and architecture photography which most people would use it for. I know all these images are a little soft but with slow shutter speeds to capture some of the lgiht to enhance the setting it is needed.

There are way better photos from the event overall, but for the first time with the lense I am happy.
