Not much wind around today so my mate had his skimboard out. No tricks unfortunately (he was just skating around cause there wasn't enough wind for anything), but we had fun. C&C appreciated :)

Just curious, what do you do when you get to the rocks just ahead in the second image?

Jump, or pray for a gust of wind I guess?

Hehe, he just moves the kite from one side to the other and comes back the other way ;) It's not too hard, but alot of fun. He did manage to get dragged up into the bushes just in front of him on one occasion though

Hi Jeff2231,
great shots I really like the composition in shot 2!

I take surf shot from the shore at the moment but have the opportunity to shoot from a jet ski so I am interested in getting some form of housing. Any advice??

thanks

Mcav

Hi Mcav,

I use a housing from splwaterhousings.com and it works like a charm. If you don't like the thought of outlaying that amount of money there are a number of camera "bags" that are much cheaper and will work fine from the back of a jetski.

I went with the housing because I am mainly shooting fisheye and needed something that could be knocked around a bit more (and after a few bumps on the rocks I'm glad I went with it)

The above photos were shot without the housing though. I figured I wouldn't need it, but thankfully the 40D is stupid people proof and wasn't affected when it got covered in salt water halfway through the shoot haha.

Thanks for that jeff231,
I think I'll go with a bag - ewa marine seem to look good.
I'm in the West of Ireland and the big wave season will kick off soon so want to get ready for it!!

thanks again

Well you've got some nice waves to shoot over there anyway! Have fun and make sure to post up the results!

Hey Mcav,
Take an EWA Marine bag into big waves and you're asking for trouble. You need good contact with your controls, fast access to the features and the option to dunk on pull downs. I shoot surfing for a hobby in Bali where I live and the hold downs even on 6 fotters here can take you beyond the safety depth rating for the EWA's. You're better off springing for a waterhousing without a doubt. More economical options are Liquid Eye.

Just my 2c.
Cheers,
Mark.
