Favor to ask. Can anyone with a Elinchrom BXRi be so find as to post or drop me a pic of the swivel mount and how it attaches to the body of the light? Any thoughts you have on durability, etc would also be appreciated.
Am having some issues with a Mola Demi (no fault of Mola's) and the dovetail assembly where the mounts locks on to the body on the DLites I'm using (lovely light & electronics, but robustness not so much).
Have the Mola posted, but MAYBE the BXRi would do the job (the remote control would be nice as well ;>)

For those curious the issue isn't the standard weak swivel mount on the DLites. I've done the Manfrotto swivel mount mod - rock solid. The problems is that now because the swivel has no give, the next weakest point is rearing its' head. On the Dlite, the light body and the swivel mount (the top 1/2 of which has the umbrella tube molded into it) slide and lock together using a dovetail (female on light, male on swivel). They slide together and a small protruding tab on the top of the mount locks into a slot on the underbody of the light.
The ONLY thing counteracting any strong leverage downward on the Dlites (other than the swivel mount) are the two plastic lips of the female dovetail receptacle on the light body. They aren't strong enough. For my 53" Octa, no issues, the Mola....
The issue is now because the swivel joint itself has no 'give', the weight of the Mola Demi (which is heavier than a Speedo) lift or flexes the rear of the Dlite body JUST enough to allow the locking tab to clear it's slot. End result is the whole things disengages and starts to slide floor-bound. If it flexes enough, which mine did, it cracks the lips on the dovetail receptacle. Thankfully it was only on my beat-up Dlite 2 and some epoxy extra will fix it, but @#$%.
The Dlites are GREAT lights. Nice consistent output, controls/UI, price, etc - but the mount is sad. Aside from the bad design of the swivel joint (which the Manfrotto mod cures), the upper 1/2 of the swivel is metal sandwiched between plastic - but attaches to a dovetail socket made solely of thin plastic.
Spoke to Walter (Mola designer) yesterday - he was surprised at design of mount and was a helpful as he could be (not his fault). The Mola is great, the Dlites are great with the caveats - but they are a budget entry light. That said, the two together however ....
