I read the card via card reader and pictures are fine....the only thing that I want to do is change the settings on "my camera settings", to change the screen and sounds on the camera... Is there any other way to do this than using the browzer that it came with. PLEASE HELP ME

If I understand your question then there are numerous settings including camera sounds & screen image which you access on the camera via the menu screens (use the four way switch to navigate around in the menu & press the same "set" switch to change anything ...

PS This is covered in the manual or even better in the review of the S30 at www.steves-digicams.com

Hi,

I think your PC's setting is a problem. Do you connect to the PC using the USB or port cable? If you're using one of that, just go to the setting of your PC and check for the port.

Usually your PC automatically will inform the user that there the PC found the new software.

Try this, hope you're not frustating again

thank you for your reply

I must be more computer illiterate than i thought......

I looked in the control pannel opened the scanner/camera window...... my canon scanner (D1230u) and the camera powershot s30 apear as an option. when i plug in the scanner it says that it is on the usb port and is avalable. (the test mode is on)
when i plug in the camera, it says what port that it is plugged in (the same as the scanner because it is the same port) BUT it says that it is still unavailable.....test mode is not on......when i go to insall(add) there is no option to add this camera......insert disc and can not get it to load anything for the camera............
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG
Do i need to go back to school just to hook up a camera
once again thank everyone for your support

thanks

Hi,

How many USB port do you have? Usually there are 2 USB ports. If you use one for Scanner and the other one for camera, I have tried this but sometimes both of them is not suitable means between the scanner with the camera has a contra action. So maybe you must took off the USB port for the scanner and replace it with the camera although you have two ports (you just use one for camera and make the other one empty or not use).

Have a nice try and weekend.

thanks again for the info........

i am getting deeper and deeper.......

i uninstalled both the camera and the scanner....then downloaded the software again...... i think i screwed it up even more........ at first it recognized that there was new hardware for the camera.....when it was loading the drivers for the camera it could not find many many files( about 18 ). it said to insert the disc and when i did it still could not find the files......did this twice and the third time i pluggen it in now it doesnt even recognize that there is any new hardware and I can not find the file that the camera is on or if it is in there.....
Now i really dont know what to do.......
I can not thank you enough for all the help that you have given me

Hello iiiiiya,

Maybe the first time you must to do when you turn on the computer you can press 'del' or whatever to go to the first setup menu. Try to find the menu which usb port located and you must activated the two usb port.

Just for information if both of the usb port is a already activated, it's still not guaranted that the usb for scanner and usb for the camera can work stimultaneously, maybe just like I said before the two usb can not work together and you must choose one.

Maybe this one can help you.

are you un-installing in your control panel >> remove hardware OR control panel >> remove software? It is best to un-install, then re-install.

I am agree with what Eric said, but you cannot use the scanner anymore, or if you want to use it you must un-install the camera and re-install the scanner.

But if your scanner has a serial port, you can choose this port.

Heya,

What you'll need to do is this:

Go into the Device Manager. (Control Panel, System)

Remove the S30 from Imaging Device, and click on refresh. It'll ask for the CD, just ignore that. It should come up an error along the lines of "The file 'canocam.cat' could not be found" etc etc.

Click browse.
Browse here:

c:\program files\canon\DC USB TWAIN\camera3

Click OK, then OK again. Then once that's done, just restart, and you should be sweet.

Mitch.
