I have a question regarding expenses. I normally try to do just TFCD while I am still learning but recently had a request for CD and traveling expenses.
Now what bugs me a bit is I was trying to book a few models in Albq and made contact with one who I liked her look. She writes back about always wanting to do a shoot at White Sands (where I am) but I would have to pay her expenses. I explained to her that I was trying to come to Albq but if she wanted to do a White Sands before she moved we could arrange something later.
Then she writes back that she really is only interested in White Sands but she would like me to cover both gas and hotel or at least one of the two. Now if the model wants the shoot at the location she wants because she always wanted to shoot there why am I being requested to pay anything? I am not trying to sound snotty but I am not making any money off of this. I am not doing AD work for a company. The model is even telling me she wants to come to me because she has always wanted to shoot there.
I would have no problem paying a model traveling expenses if I was asking her to come here but if it is her wanting to pick the location why should I be paying. Not to mention White Sands is one of my least favorite places to shoot. Yes it is pretty but the wind is unpredictable and sand gets everywhere. I still have not responded back to the model as I don't know what to say and don't want to come across as being a witch.
