Here's a shot you do not see often posted using the Sigma 600mm Mirror lens on a Canon 40D DSLR. This is 50 images, 20 seconds each, stacked with Maxim DL., using the Alt/Az Cube mount. I guess this proves you don't need a telescope to take deep sky images. I have already imaged most of the deep sky objects that are visible above my tree "infested" yard with a ED80, and a Canon 350D. So I thought I would see what could be done with just a standard 600mm lens on my 40D.

Yes, it turned out much better than I had expected!!.
If the weather holds, I'll try it on some Nebula's. But for the past few days the humidity has been very high, and the night sky has been hazy. Not ideal conditions. Especially with a F/8 - 600mm Mirror lens. These mirror lenses usually suffer from lack of contrast, making them less than ideal for Nebula's. If the haze does not clear out, I'll try it on some star clusters such as M13.
The night sky here in upstate NY so far this Summer, has been terrible. Clouds almost every night.
