It looks like I might be attending a regata in September and would like a few pointers etc. I'm into sports togging anyway so I know all about motion capture etc but I've never covered rowing before.
I guess one of the most important things would be positioning along the course...............your tips most welcome though.
I am only able to use the kit I have now which is a Canon 450d/Rebel the standard kit lens and an EF 70-300 f4.0/5.6

If I were to shoot it, I'd try to get their faces somehow. It's a tough sport!

See if you can talk your way onto a judge's boat. They typically trail the racers and can give you some great shots of the effort and some context. Shots from the bank along the course don't give any sense of where they're headed or the effort required.

what does your gear look like? if you have a long enough lens you might be able to pull it off..
