My route from Fisherman's Wharf is to take Market St. & head South. Market St. will eventually become Portola once you make it up to the hills. Then look for Twin Peaks Blvd, make a right and you will eventually get to the viewing areas. Another route is off of Ashbury.
Hope it won't be too windy, foggy or both when you go!

Have fun.

I'm sorry if I didn't undestand your question right (english is not my main language). If you are looking for Twin peaks and how to come there take a look this map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=san+francisco&ll=37.754822,-122.440796&spn=0.040588,0.044770&hl=en
Twin peaks reservoir is place you are looking.
I hope it helps. If I understood wrong then please just don't mind my answer :)

I took these from Muir Beach overlook. Evidently I should have turned around because the panoramic view of the mountains is also incredible there. However, I was on a tour bus that only stopped for about 10 minutes and I was lucky the sun appeared to allow the shots I got. I really want to go back on a non-business tripas there is plenty to photograph in San Francisco and the surrouding areas. Have fun!!
