Sorry for posting this seperatly but i'd like the advise fairly urgently as i'd like to sort this tonight.
I'm in the process of building my rig, i've sourced a pole 12ft x 2in cut into 2x 6ft sections.
I've got 3 x super clamps and 2 x Arri F1000 suction cups.
I'm thinking about cutting about a foot off one of the poles, cutting it down the middle and either sliding it inside or slipping it over the outside ?
Anyone done this ? Will it work ?
I'd really appreciate any advise before i cut the pole and cock it up

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to achieve. Are you trying to connect the two sections using the 1 foot section?

Yes i am to create one long pole but so that i can split it again to transport it in a car.
I was thinking either cut a 1ft section off one end, cut it down the length one side only and the squeeze it so that it can slide inside the pipe but be tight.
Or cut it down the length so that its in 2 halves and put one half each side and bolt it.

An interesting solution but I don't know quite how well it would work. The most common way of cutting down a pole is to have the ends machined so that they slide in and out of each other. Thats what I did with mine, a local engineering place did it for £30 and it works very well.
This isn't my rig but the 4th picture down illustrates what I'm talking about.

Thanks for that.
I've actually found someone who works with me that does rocketry in his spare time and has said that he can get some Alli bar and machine it to fit inside each tube. Also considering getting a section in the bar so that i can bolt an upright into it so that i can take up the flex in the tube even tho my current camera is very light i'm looking to future proof my design.
I'll keep you posted on how it progresses.
