Might be shooting there this week, and I never have before. Wondering if anyone here has? I know there is a large group of New England Area concert photographers.
What's it like? What is a good Focal Length to use? How is the pit? Was thinking on brining my 17-55IS, Sigma 30 1.4, and Fisheye lens. I figured the 70-200 might be a bit long, though I'm not sure on that.
How are they with gear there? I only have a very small cary bag, or a decent sized backpack.
Any insights would be helpful! Thanks.

you should definitely bring the 70-200. the stage isn't that high as compared to most big venue stages. bring the 17-55 as well. i've shot there a couple of times, once w/ a pit and once w/o a pit. each time i've been it hasn't been a problem w/ my usual bag (messenger bag w/ two bodies and 4 or so lenses).
i would bring yr fast prime as well, just to be safe...sometimes lights suck, artist-choice.

Thanks Narlus. I have a crop camera, but only one body. Can you have your bag in the pit to switch out lenses, or do you keep in somewhere else? I have a Mini-trecker backpack which holds my 40D, 4 lenses, and a flash (though I doubt I'll use it).

i always have my bag slung over my shoulder whenever i am shooting. this is one of the benefits of a bike messenger bag; low profile and easy access. it's not the most comfortable thing fully laden, but it's not bad.

I've stashed a bag under the curtained stage there while shooting. It's a decent venue to shoot from and the video guys don't move around much.

Shot crue fest today. Unbeknownst to me, I could only shoot from the soundboard. Longest lens I had was a 70-200 with a 1.4x T-con, good thing I brought it! Unfortunately they only let two or three people shoot Motley Crue, and I was not one of them.
