Hi......I am new to the forum. This is my first post.....please don't laugh as I am pretty new to photography and have many questions. I recently bought a Canon 50D and have learned a lot in the past few months......
Here are a couple of my first shots out of the camera. Of coarse they are of my dog.......you maybe seeing lots of her, as most of my pictures are of her.
These were taken indoors in all natural light. No flash and NO P&P, as I don't have either a flash or photo editing software yet. Taken in M at ISO 1600 and some higher. Strait from the Camera.
Without further ado, introducing Lula......

Nice shots. You have got photo editing software, the software that came with the camera.

Thank You so much!
She is the best dog I've ever had. Believe it or not but she is 9 yrs old. Rescued her from the pound when she was just a pup. She is starting to get a little gray around the dark half of her face.
As for the photo's, Once upon a time..... a long, long time ago....... I took half a semester of FILM photography in high school. I remembered a little and I mean very little about the basics: ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed. Mostly, I loved to take photo's with a cheap point & shoot and everyone thought I had a photography "eye" if that's what you want to call it. So, I decided I'd try my luck with a DSLR. I also read, read, and read while I was saving up to get my camera. When I finally got my camera it took me about three shots to figure out how to use FULL Manuel. Although, I still haven't figured out how to use TV or AV. My photo's come out looking like dog doo doo. I guess I will just stick with M mode.
I'm still not too happy with these photo's though and would like to get them much sharper.
Nice shots. You have got photo editing software, the software that came with the camera.
Thanks!
About the software that came with the camera. Is it OK? I'm sorry I sound ignorant but I haven't really messed with it. I REALLY don't know what I'm doing when it comes to photo editing and I haven't read much about it. These shots where taken in JPEG as are most of my shots. I don't know why but taking photo's in RAW scared me at first. I finally took my first set of RAW photo's two weeks ago at the zoo. I know how to convert the photo's to JPEG but I'm not good at the other stuff.

Make that three of us. 2 weeks ago-50d. As for the dog, very unique and cool looking dog. I like it. As for the pictures, some good, some really good. I think your doing great. If Lula is like my kids, she is like....."oh no, he has the camera out again."
As for the camera editting software, DPP is not that hard to learn but remember, if your going to edit the pics, then when you convert, they said to convert to .tif format because each time you save a .jpg formatted picture, you lose quality. Just something I have read from the pro's on the site. Keep Clicking.
