I was so excited when I got my DRebel a couple weeks ago that I could reuse some of my old 35mm film equipment (not that I have much). I dusted off my old Vivitar 2000 flash head and mounted it on the DRebel and fired off a couple shots. Satisfied that it would work, I put the flash in my camera bag.
Thanks to this forum, I was eventually led to the flash trigger voltage page and all kinds of related information. Other than those two initial shots, I haven't used the flash since, and even removed the batteries and put it back in with my old Pentax K1000 from whence it originally came.
Today, I had my camera at work and also had access to a digital voltmeter. So, we fired up the flash, let it charge up and tested the voltage on the hotshoe terminals. 58.6 V. Ouch. Hopefully, the camera's sync circuit is still intact.
UPS is supposed to drop off my Wein shot-mount safe sync unit from B&H today.
