View Full Version : Help me find a powershot comparable to a Panasonic?

I had a few Powershots that were great, and finally upgraded to an XSi last year. I do love my camera but there are a few times when I'd rather just have a P&S around. Plus, I'd like the ability to record videos sometimes.

When I read about the Lumix series that have 8x and 10x zooms in a pocket camera, going down to 25mm in some cases, with IS, I thought it would be a great option. But I would like to stay with Canon.

I'm looking to spend under $300, preferably under $250, which I am pretty sure I can do with the Panasonic. I prefer Li-Ion batteries to AA/AAA, and image stabilization.

Your help is much appreciated!

Jon, thanks for those two camera recommendations.

Are there any that may be a little less expensive, since those are at the top of my range? I like that those have manual modes, but may be a little overkill for my pocket cam...

Only other PowerShots still with Manual are the SD990 and A590 IIRC, and the A590's getting hard to find.
