I went to Bert Monroy's Photoshop Creativity Class and during the one of the breaks he showed his system - 2 - 21" Cintiq's (one for editing and one for pallette's) and a 30" display to view the image overall. Very nice.
He also said during class that he is working with the 4th or 5th build of PS CS5 and dropped some very vague hints about improvements.

Cintiq pads (or screens rather) are quite nice. Too bad they cost so much ($2k for 21") and have poor stats (low contrast, not IPS), but there really aren't many options as well built.

You can't dispute the quality of his work, though.

Techies have a preoccupation with stats more than art IME. I've seen dozens of top professionals in the movie and photography industry that use what some here would call antiquated POS computers. Without techies however, the tech industry likely would just languish however. We need both types :)

Never did and as long as he stays at this level, never will ;)
One of my friends takes better photos with his cellphone and P&S then most can with their dslrs, and having the skills of a great artist (photographic or otherwise) overcomes any minor inconveniences (has slrs up the wazoo too though, so my friend was just too good). Just a shame wacom hasn't updated the cintiq pads in such a long time... IPS version or something exotic like OLED screens would really bring it to a whole different level. Especially when doing high end work.
