I'm new here and had a question for other canon digital owners. I have a digital rebel, and a friend of mine has an EOS film camera with some niftys that he left me play around with them. One of them is a flash thats an ES series apparently. I went to the store today to look at getting myself one but the guy at the store said that the ES and EX series use different trigger voltages and mixing them between digital and non digital canon cameras could damage the camera. He said could, not would so I have to question the validity of the statement. It seems like anything that could damage it would, and since I tried the flash and nothing bad seems to have happened... on the other hand, I'd rather not take the risk. Has anyone heard this? I did some poking around and haven't been able to find any information on it.

http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html has a list of flashes and their trigger voltages. Someone who has it memorized will no doubt chime in shortly.

Canon ES flash. I've never heard of that.

How about EZ?

Check on the complete model number.

Canon 540EZ is a typical flash unit from the Canon EOS film camera days, but there is limited compatibility with a Canon Digital Rebel.
