I posted this shot previously and got mostly positive feedback.

Erin recently re-cropped the picture and insists that her version is better.

I'm not sure myself...What do you think?

I agree with Erin. You're not missing anything without the background, and the girl and dog are the reason you took the picture. My way of thinking anyway.

Very nice capture and I like the cropped version the best.

Nice shot, I seem to recall seeing these pictures on here before. Maybe I'm wrong, I liek the cropped better.

As the saying goes, if it does not add to the photo, it takes away.
The crop is much better.

I agree with everyone else, the cropped shot is nice. I would clone out that stain on her jacket however. It wasn't that noticible on the original, but it keeps drawing my eye to it on the cropped version. It's a very lovely shot. It was nice to see it again.

I like the cropped version better too....I just wish that the catchlites were not dead center in her eyes. Nice job.

Erin is very pleased that you supported her version. But, lets give Canon and the 20D some credit for retaining so much detail with such a significant crop. Her version is only ~5% of the original capture below. And the 8x10 she produced is outstanding. Thanks for your feedback....Don
