Fantastic shot! The "eye" on the wing is as sharp as a hawk eye. :)

as per camera and lens: EOS1DMkII, 70-200 IS, 12mm Macro ring, ISO640-800 (depending on the situation),f/3.2-4.5 usually, 1/80-1/125s exposures, handheld.

Ummm... I have the 70-200mm though not IS. I thought I needed a macro lens to get good macro shots (per B&H salesman, "diopters and extensions effect the quality of the image," or words to that effect). I would be very happy to have images as clear as yours.:confused:

Now - THIS is macro... (not mine, though)
