This was my first real time shooting at VIR let alone the AMA. C&C is welcome as usual!

American SBK

1) Mat Mladin coming down the front straight on Friday during the first Practice session.

Daytona SBK

6) Melissa Paris a few laps before her crash in Race #1. I actually got lucky and caught that crash, check out my site for the 20 frame sequence. FYI- this is not the crash that cost her a broken leg, that happened on Sunday. For those who dont know who she is, this girl can ride the wheels off that bike, she is consistently faster than many male racers and is kicking butt in regional type races all over the nation. I wish her a speedy recovery!

One of the best shooting locations is from the other side of the bridge as you come in, down by the inn. You actually sit below track level making for some really nice shots. Also shooting down the back straight towards Oak Tree turn provides some really nice sight lines.

Other than that - for a first visit, not bad. A little tighter would be nice. You've got good wheel spin, and panning looks fine. Cheers

I think I know exactly where you're talking about over by the inn (overlooking T5?), I did scope it out but didnt have my own scooter to get out that way during the race since I was there to help pit crew for a friend who was racing in DSB.

If you're talking about the infamous oak tree on the south course the AMA no longer runs the full course.

Oh wow... I didn't head up this year, but come to think about it I do remember them running a riding school at the same time on the upper course a couple years back. Go figure. Cheers!

Yeah the Oak Tree is on the Patriot Course. Its usually sectioned off for a racing class (Skip Barbour I believe).

Turns 4 and 5 are great tight racing. Turn 6, from the inn....is a great spot as well. Then the "Escalator" is great from the top to midway......always some action (lots of wrecks).

I just put a thread up with my shots from this event.....and ventured to some of the spots mentioned in this thread. :D

Actually if we're talking about the same enormous oak tree, it's located on the south course. I know cuz I hated that corner when my trackday club runs there. :D

You're correct about turn 6 at the Inn, another poster grabbed a frame from there and it looks great, Im so wishing I had time to get across over there.
