I like that you're trying to pull out the textures in the second image but you have to be very careful that you don't introduce more noise, as is the case with #2. There is a tremendous amount of noise throughout, especially in the sky and the shadow on the bottom left of the frame. If you use PS, I would recommend masking out the areas that are affected by the added noise and/or running it thru a noise reduction filter.

Also, both images are a bit too saturated in color for my taste. Toning that down may help, as well. On the right track, though!

I also like where you are going with this series. I also pick #1 but do like 2 as well. I feel like #2 is a tad to heavy on the blown out in and around where the rear boom connects to the frame.

Nice work. Keep at , a great subject for HDR work.
