Hi again

At the risk of sounding neurotic, I have noticed another possible fault with my 2 week old 350XT.

There are 7 focus lights in the viewfinder, 5 in a row , one top and one bottom.

On mine, the top one is extremely dull compared to the others. If I set the focus to that point it is very dull and the centre point appears to be very slightly illuminated too. If I pick any of the others, the chosen point is very bright and clear with no others showing any sign of life.

Does that sound right?

Thanks

Dave

Sounds like a slight defect in the focusing screen on your camera. I doubt that it affect the performance of the actual focusing - but if it bothers you enough I would probably return it for another if you can................

Sure it isn't an artifact of a brightly-lit upper portion of the viewfinder? I could easily see the focus marker looking washed-out when seen against the sky or other bright background.

I've carried out a further copious inspection and have concluded that the said point is dimmer than the others but it's not worth returning the camera for. It's dimmer but not that dim.

My wife has had a look and said I was "pedantic"

So there you go!

Thanks all

Hey All,

Seems like all of my multifocus points light up evenly but I deem them pretty useless. I think the whole multi-point auto intelligent focusing system is hit-and-miss. After one day, I decided to just turn off all of the focusing points except for the middle one. I aim on what I want focused, hold the shutter, re-compose, and then shoot. So much for multi point focusing systems.

How are all of your experiences?
