So, a good friend of mine surprised me today by giving me free tickets to the August 21st game at PNC Park (depending on your time zone, that's today). The tickets are in section 14 (behind home plate), so I should have quite a close-up view of the action, albeit behind the screen.
After some quick searching, it would appear that PNC park has a pretty lenient camera policy, and so I thought that I would get some nice baseball shots while I'm there. My problem is that I have a 17-40 with fast autofocus that's short and slow, and a nifty fifty that's both longer and faster but with horrific autofocus.
For anyone who has sat that close to the field, is the 50mm on an APS-C going to cut it for shots of the batter? Is the net that big of an issue?
And, last but not least, is there anywhere in Pittsburgh where I could rent a 70-200 on short notice?
Thanks in advance!
