I popped into my local camera shop to pick up a diffuser and as I was scanning the Canon section, as usual, something caught my eye, a Lensbaby! After all the hype they've received I decided to buy one!
It's tricky to get to grips with, especially having to mechanically change the aperture rings! Anyway, here are some of the first few shots I've taken with this awesome piece of kit!

They were all shot at f2.8, but at f8 is shows that this could make for some interesting portraits:

It's a cheap tilt and shift style lens *nods*

Yeah, they do look cool. I dont' know that I could justify $100 on one though. Maybe someday, when I don't have to spend nearly $100 on diesel to fill up my truck.

Have been meaning to ask has anyone here tried one, so thanx for the sample photos, they look great. I think they could make some interesting still live or portrait shots. Anyone else have one?
I suppoe you could create a similar effect in PS, but I would prefer to do it on camera. Not a fan of PS, too time sonsuming, even if amazing in the right hands.

I guess the lensbaby is an all manual lens
Ever looked into what M42 lenses 100$ can get you
Best regards,

It's the version 1 model.
Would've got the Version 2 but given that that is almost double the price, it isn't really worth it. Will give the lens a proper go tomorrow, uni magazine happens to be after some abstract shots!

I've been considering getting one of this little beasties for a while now! Thanks for posting the pics Pete - looks like stonkingly good fun... is it the original version or the Mark II Lensbaby?

See above!
They're great to use, although tricky holding the lens in place. I assumed that where you positioned the lens it would stay, instead it springs back to it's original position, thus making it pretty tiring on your fingers when you're trying to keep the thing in focus, hold the heavy camera, make sure it's correctly exposed and release the shutter!

Whats the point of it???

Basically when used correctly, there is one point of focus, leaving the rest as a blur. No real point to it, just makes for some interesting effects, instead of the regular smooth shallow depth of field.
