Ok, I've created a new action in PS7 to apply a watermark. When I batch process, I'm also getting the watermark applyed to the pics in the source folder? Heeelpp!!! :(

Try using "Save AS"?

I've tried with 'save as' ticked & also without - no difference. Also, I get the 'save' dialogue for jpeg quality at odd intervals. Doesn't seem any ryme or reason to it!.

Can you post a screenshot of your action with the steps expanded out? Not so far you can see all the settings, just so you can see the step inside the action.

The save dialog appears on ALL JPEG's that have come straight out of the camera. PS asks you when you first open the JPEG how you would like "it" to resave your images. Why is it intermittent, because PS embeds it's own data in the JPEG so next you open it PS knows it saved it and what the settings where. I personnaly open all my JPEGS and save them as TIFFS, well I have a Batch that does this for me :D
You must make sure that DESTINATION=Folder otherwise you cannot override. :D If you want to save the jpegs in a different folder and a different name then override the Save As in the batch process and specify the appropriate rules for folder and file names.

Interesting re the embedded PS data.
Any of the preset 'actions' work as they should - ie only the copies in the destination folder, the originals in the source folder stay 'as is'. So must be something I'm doing wrong in my 'new action'.
Here's how I recorded it:
I open my photoshop format file with the watermark layer on it.
I select this layer using the rectangular marquee, then, edit/copy. (Is there a better way to copy a layer?)
Now I click on 'Record'.
Double click on the layer in the layer pallett
Double click on 'styles'
select the style I want, then OK
Layer/flatten layer
file/save
stop.

Managed to crack it! Next thing is.....aint it slooooow! Maybe better off with a purpose built watermark programme? What puts me off those is having to buy & re-buy a license for what is essentially a glorified 'paint' programme.
