Another bumper crop of great photos. Great work everyone and thanks for taking the time to enter the contest :D

I've tried to simplify things somewhat by having only two threads. Let me know if you think this is an improvement. I'm working hard to find a better method of voting and hope to have it in place for the close of the next contest.

VOTING:

Due to the large number of photos, there are two voting threads, however please vote for one photo only.
If you want to vote for photos 1-18, you can do so in this poll.
Click here to vote for photos 19-36. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74151)
Please feel free to make constructive comments to help the photographers improve on their work for next time.
Voting last for 7 days.
RESULTS:

As before there will 1st, 2nd and 3rd place positions. This will be based on the total number of votes that the photo has received.
No prizes, sorry
I thought that it would be nice to announce the names (aliases) of the people who win. Send me a PM if you don't want your name to be announced.
All the photos can be viewed here (http://canondigitalphotographycontests.fotopic.net/)

I'm going on weeks holiday today so unfortunately I won't be around to close the voting. Perhaps the winners would like to announce themselves instead?

After that, there will be a short break from these competitions to allow voting for the Landscape and Cityscape competition. If you want to enter there's still time. Just click on the link in my sig.

See you all in a week!

BB :D

I'm guessing this is done as today is 7 days after voting opened. I'll go as far as to suggest midnight GMT on the 24th was the official close and that any further votes don't count. Hopefully nobody feels that is too presumptous of me in Big_Bs absence.

And a big congratulations go to the owner of photo 5 with a sizeable win. Would you care to step forward and perhaps share with us some of the thought that went into creating your image?

I was photo number 11 "A crucifix for fossil fuels" and placed (a fairly distant) second.

Thanks for the congratulations Citizensmith, And all those who liked Nocturnal green enough to vote for it, I'm flattered :)

I'm fortunate enough to live in a relatively dark area so all I have to do is open the door and look outside to see if the aurora are active. Nocturnal green was taken about 200 feet from my door where a creek flows into a river. Aurora activity that morning was fairly mild so I decided to try longer exposures to see if I could incorporate the water flow into the picture as well.I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Canon digital rebel with 50mm 1.4 lens at 1.4, ISO 100 163 second exposure....manfrotto tripod and 2 hotpacks held on to the lens with hair elastics to keep the lens frost free since I was out for a couple hours.

Thanks again folks....Some nice pics submitted...I liked #11 myself, Nice picture Citizensmith :)

Thanks to CitizenSmith for finishing off the contest (and congratulations for coming second).

Of course its all for fun, but in the words of Nicolas Parsons, 'here are the scores anyway':
1st - latigid soe
2nd - Mr Smith
3rd - kawter

Well done everyone :D

Oh, and a quick reminder that there will be short delay between this contest and the next to allow for voting in the POTN Landscape and Cityscape contest. You still have a day or so to enter if you wish (see my sig for link).

cheers,
