PORTRAIT LIGHTING AND POSING MADE SIMPLE
A seminar by Scott Smith, Master Photographic Craftsman.
No amount of Photoshop or camera accessories can take the place of understanding correct portrait lighting and posing. Lighting is what creates the look of a portrait. Posing that is not well done defeats the best lighting. You need both in harmony to create great portraits.

Spend two enjoyable days that will take years off of your learning curve. Getting it right in the camera is the first step to photographic success. Photographers come from all over the U. S. as well as Canada to learn what is truly a vanishing art.
Learn lighting and posing in language so easy to understand that even a total beginner will walk away with a powerful new confidence. Photographers should be creating great images right in the camera that need little or no Photoshop work to make them ready for the customer. Digital photography requires proper exposure, correct meter readings and lighting that is right on the money.
By mid day of the first day, students will realize that lighting was never as complex as they thought it was. They just needed it demonstrated and explained so they could understand it. In the very first two hours, you will learn how to control your main light, fill light, background and hair lights with total predictability and ease. No more trial and error guessing. As the day progresses you will learn about proper meter readings for perfect exposures. Complex ratios like 3 to 1 will be totally eliminated. You will learn a ton of critical information that you can take home and use instantly.
From simple head and shoulders portraits to large groups, you will have the necessary tools to get the shot right. Full lengths, couples, kids, profiles, whatever you need to do, once you see the light, everything falls into place and you feel confident.
Proper posing is every bit as important as great lighting. Once you learn the simple do’s and don’t of basic posing, it will become far easier and more natural looking. A large family grouping should be no more intimidating than a simple head shot. You will learn how to compensate for glasses, baldness, big or small noses, large ears and much, much more. Posing hands and arms will become easy and helping heavy people look smaller is also on the agenda.
You will also learn detailed information on making wedding photography smooth and fun for everyone. Learn how to make additional income with beautiful boudoir photography while you learn new lighting techniques. You will learn sales and business information and I will show you how to make your own great backgrounds for little or no money.
