Went to the start of the Gumball 3000 in London on Saturday. Had a good time and shot off 296 frames.

Found out just how much you can get away with if you have a camera bag and expensive looking camera with Canon on various straps and flaps.

Got into 2 private areas I shouldn't have been allowed to. Start talking to someone and no-one kicks you out! :D Talked to a lot of very nice Gumballers, took photos, gave them my card, and most seemed like they really appretiated it and would check back for the photos. (Having a sexy business card helps a lot when your main target are men ;) )

But this was the crown of the day. I saw a bunch of pros in front of a pink Range Rover. Hmmm, thinks I, Daryl Hannah is driving a pink Range Rover, and pro photogs means celebs! So I hung around the back of them. With my camera bag and CANON printed around my neck I looked like the rest of them, so when the police cleared out everyone behind me, I was left 2nd row and centre waiting for Daryl. When she came out I got a few OK shots. She was being awkward with her hat and sunglasses, but I was more proud I got to stay there than that I got the shot :)

All in all a good day.

Here's the shots. Haven't picked a few faves yet

That would have been a lot of fun... and talk about a target-rich environment!

On a side note, how bad must it be to be an actor or actress and to have to watch yourself when you were young on the screen? Ms. Hannah is NOT aging gracefully so I imagine that makes it harder.

Hi

Great Photos mate !

I was looking at getty images (picture agency) last night and found Chris jackson's (Pro Photographer) photos of the gumball, so i thought you would like to have a look.

I was shooting along side him on Saturday, at the London Pro cannabis march, so i done a bit of research on the net and found some of his images.

Thanks, I've totally got the Gumball Bug, so am interested in anything. Wish I had the access he had. The women are nice, but where are the cars?!

That would be a blast. I love that Zonda. Is that Jay Kay in the Silver car towards the end?

No, Jay Kay didn't join in this year, I think he's still on a ban, but he did perform at the party the night before

Thanks for the compliments guys!I think the tank only went as far as Folkstone. Very funny though.

Does anyone know why my page doesn't work in Firefox?

Hey Red, nice pics you got there, it looks like i was just up the road on the corner where they turned onto Pall Mall from you.

As to your firefox problem, i think it is to do with the way the links are formed, http://www.pixelsstudios.com/pages/images\gumball05\002.jpg is what you have for the picture, for some reason IE can work this out, but firefox cant, so if you change it to what it should be forward slashes all the way e.g. http://www.pixelsstudios.com/pages/images/gumball05/002.jpg and it should work a treat :)

Looks like a fun thing to attend (Best in a car :D )

Just what exactly is Gumball about?
It looks too official to be some kind of 'Cannonball' rip-off.

Best regards,
Andy

That's pretty much exactly what it is. 120-150 cars driving 3000 miles trying to avoid the police and get to the checkpoints and finish first. But it's not a race, it's a rally

I am pretty sure the movie Cannonball Run ripped off the Gumball. There is a really interesting article about the 2004 Gumball in the current Vanity Fair magazine with Angilina Jolie on the cover.

It is pretty much a bunch of super rich people who drive cool cars really fast and party 24/7. I mean like 200 mph fast on public roads.

Anyways nice pictures, cool how you got to sneak around ;)

Great shots ...Gumball Rally was a way better movie than Cannon Ball Run.
1976 verses 1981
The guy with the Goat looks like he came from space...lol

They rarely reach 200mph! But 150-160 is common. That said....200 happens every now and then!
