This is a shot of our little guy's reflection in his mirror, half asleep, not long ago.

We lost him today due to a medical problem. He was a young, intelligent bird who was learning very quickly, and who was very affectionate.

I'm happy that I was able to shoot this picture before he left us. He was my buddy, even though he was just a bird. Thanks for looking.

My condolences. Losing a pet is losing a family member.

Nice shot. Sorry to hear about that.

And to whomever said pets are therapy is right. its proven that dogs (and other pets) make people happier.

John:
That is really a shame, but you make an excellent point whether intentionally or not. We take these pictures as much for memories as for artistry, and you've created a wonderful memory.

John,

I am sorry for your loss. It's never easy losing a pet :(

He looks like a cockatiel?....I breed them, they are beautiful, friendly birds.

Thanks witchy, yes he was a cockatiel. They are very friendly birds. He was our door alarm, and our official greeter as we came in the house. He loved to be held. . . . loved toothpicks, and eye glasses.

He was my first introduction to owning a bird, and I was really impressed with his character. He was learning the theme song to the Andy Griffith show, knew several whistles, and would say "Hi Ozzie, whatcha doin?" when you came in the room. We'll miss him, and knowing my wife, we'll probably get another one.

John,

Again my condolences. If you were in the same country (Australia) as me I would give you another one. I breed them and hand rear many of them. They really have character. They are a native parrot over here. Is that why is name was Ozzie?

That's a very nice gesture witchy, thank you.

Actually, he got his name from the rock star Ozzie Osbourne. We have a Cat named Alley, and a dog named Cooper (from the MINI Cooper that we used to own), so we thought we would have Alice (Alley), Cooper and Ozzie. It was also an easy name for him to say. Luckily, he didn't talk like the real Ozzie though. . . :D

That's a cute picture. I'm sorry for your loss. Can't help but note the irony of a bird named after Ozzie Osbourne.

John,
I can relate to your feelings. Animals, being birds, cats or dogs, interact with us in their own way, and they are always sincere in what they share.

Sorry for your loss. Great thing that you captured such a good image of him.

Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to reply to my post. Your comments prove to me that this forum (Nature & Animals), represents a group of very caring individuals.

I didn't mean to make a big deal over this posting. I think it was my way of telling people who care, about a cute little creature that I had the pleasure of spending time with. I know everyone gets attached to their pets, but I never thought that I would have a little bird buddy. I"m sure that I'll have another one, and you'll probably get bored with all the pictures.

Thanks guys!
