New poster here, but I've been lurking for a while...
I currently have a DRebel, since August of last year. But I'm selling it to my father to get a 20D. By combining the Internet and a credit card, I will have my new camera tomorrow from buydig.com. I can't wait!!
I already have a 70-200 F4L that has performed flawlessly on the Rebel that I will keep for the 20. If the results that I have seen on the Reb are any indication, the 20 ought to produce some amazing images. I took some incredible shots with the L and 2x multiplier at the recent Nascar race in Texas, and I will be getting myself familiar with the 20 between now and night race in Bristol in August...:D
Anyway, I just wanted to hi to everyone and looking to learning more about this new camera.

PS. I'm number 284 for the POTN strap.

Congrats John! You are really going to love it compared to your Drebel especially the outstanding high ISO and the ease of selecting different functions.

Heh, I know what you mean - I was pretty useless at work last Thursday after my 20D arrived. It's hard not to take it out for an extended lunch (ok, I did just that today...). My 20D has been everything I hoped for so far and I've really started to get used to my favorite modes. 5 days and I've shot 1186 images with my 20D. At this rate, I'll reach the cameras rated number of shutter cycles (100,000) in just over a year....

Congrats John! I just got mine a few days ago - so if you're anything like me you'll be grinning like an idiot every time you pick it up! :D
Mind you....I grin like an idiot most of the time so not so noticeable for me! ;)

:D <= is a very accurate picture of me smiling like an idiot. (I have bright yellow skin, a perfectly round head and no nose, so the likeness is uncanny!)

Welcome aboard and have fun with the new toy. I will reach the 20D as soon as I have completed my lens selection, I still have a couple of pieces to change/add, after that is going to be a 20D so to use directly 2 bodies. I hate changing lenses and having 2 bodies will allow me to have my two most favorite lenses always on (the 10-22 that I already have and a long lens still TBD)

I finally got home with the camera. Fedex tried to deliver at 1:06 PM, nobody home. I left a note on the front door that said if it positively, absolutely needs my signature, please return after 4:30 PM. The delivery person took that note, and left his own. It stated that they would try again tomorrow BEFORE 4:30, or I can go pick it up at their office. That office is 96 mile round trip from my home..
To cut to the chase, I have the new battery charging as I type this. I put one of the batteries from the Drebel in the camera to check the firmware and it shows 1.1.1. So now I'm off to download the latest and decide wether or not install it. Any thoughts? I've read some say always have the newest firmware and others say not. About a 50/50 split of opinion..
Again, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome to the community.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing some of your pics.
I downloaded the firmware, but am still debating whether to install it. To my knowledge, the new one doesn't do much anyway......

Hello John, and welcome to the forum. I am still saving for my camera.
For some reason my house wants the money at this point. I just don’t understand.
Hope to see some photographs from you soon.
