Another adventure today yielded what I believe to be a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. It was relatively cooperative but always seemed to be a branch or a leaf in the way. Shot with the 20D and the 300 f2.8 L IS, handheld.

There is an unwritten rule of birding that when you get the perfect bird lined up in your sight, it will be on the wrong side of the branch.

I'll bet that an hour of careful cloning work could fix that up. Of course, the bird is standing on the very branch that you may try to remove.

Very nice shots, despite the leaves.

Excellent, Sheldon! I don't really mind the branches, especially in the first one ... I think they give the shots a "taken in the wild" look (as opposed to "taken at the feeder").

Great shot...

I took my first picture of one last week, but there was a lot of bright sky in the background which spoiled it.. I wish mine turned out as good as yours..
