Great shot, although it worries me a bit that they chose to nest atop of a taxidermists sign.

I guess there's just no counting for taste in birds, or maybe they just can't read :)

Was it raining or did you also capture several flying saucers?

Good image, certainly makes you think about it,well done.
I do hope these birds were not prepared by the company on the lower sign ?

Looks like a bit of sensor cleaning or even flying saucer removal required.
I really think Canon should reduce the costs of the body, then we can just throw away and replace it save all that cleaning ????
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comments. I may try the sensor cleaning, I'm finding the flying saucers on more pictures than I like.

Hi Wizzcom
It's a way of life with the SLR digital bodies I'm affraid.
The last 7 days I have shot about 14 Gb of images with a 1D mk 2 using 4 dif lenses, and I can assure you theres a lot more crud on my sensor (more like star wars than the odd flying saucer)
than what i see in your shot.
This might be usefull .
1......Before you clean sensor shoot a blank frame with a lens stopped well down f11 or f16 & say a plain light grey surface, view this on screen I promise you will see every spot of dust.

2......Now clean the sensor.

3.....now repeat the test shot and view on screen.
this will show you how good the cleaning was, sometimes we need to clean more than once.

P.S. i assume you know how to remove these marks off the image.
easiest way i find is the healing tool in photoshop, or even the clone tool,
just choose a soft edge brush.

Hi Wizzcom

I used Photo shop for this.
just took out the specks , using the healing tool, P.S 7
checked the levels and made a slight adjustments.

shot looked a bit grainy, I think you used 800 iso acording to the Exif info.
so I then run it though a noiseware program just to clean it up and what a difference that made.

I use the free comunity edition noiseware program you can get from the web, its just magic.

Let me know what you think
Cheers

Just a thought
you really need to do all this to your original file and not the low res one on here.

Glad to be of help,
which bit was useful for you ?
I realise this is on the back of wizzcom's post. but picking up little bits of info here and there is what this forum is all about.
if something works for you in PS stick with it, as there are so many ways to achieve same results in that program.
if its the Noiseware then there are dif versions available, but sooner or later it will be useful to have a version on your machine.
Cheers
Martin

Hukaback,
The picture looks great. You're right about the ISO, I had pumped it up for another shot and forgot to lower it again. Around here we call these "senior moments".
Every little bit of information that you can get is a plus. I've been away from photography for a number of years and the big thing I say now is "I forgot". I'll take all the help, tips and hints that I can get. Keep up the good work.

I love the irony of the birds over the taxidermy sign!

You may well call it a "Senior Moment" and thats something we all suffer with from time to time.

However you have something far more important, I think what you actually have is
"a Seeing Eye"
in other words the abillity to see a "Picture" I guess a lot of people would have looked at those birds and just walked by. To spot an image like that is great, well done .
