On my A650IS, recently after putting in new charged batteries (obivously letting them cool down first)... I noticed some dead pixels (but its in a weird shape at the bottom center of the LCD) on the LCD screen. It doesn't affect the finished pictures but is this the first step or sign that my camera is dying? It has had over 22,000 pictures on it since I got it in Christmas of 07.

I think it may be a sign your LCD screen has sustained damage. If your finished pictures are still good when displayed on a computer, then I would not worry yet.

tkbslc is right. LCD screens die all the time, when the Sony PSP came out a huge number of them had dead pixels right out of the box, and they ended up getting returned. It's not a good sign for the LCD but if you can still use it and the pictures are fine, it's not the worst thing ever.

I just ordered a new LCD for my SD500, per some of the internet posts it's not to hard to replace, we shall see, it should be coming in several days cost $50.00 US

The 650 is a nice camera, you should fix it

as long as it still works as it was.. and as long as you can live with the dead pixels.. that will be fine. dead pixels are common in lcd monitors and if not that many are not considered as 'defective' for manufacturers.

its not really that bothersome, as the pixels are towars the bottom in a rectangleish thing. I really do love this camera. Thats why it use it quadruple the amount from my "SLR"
