lens recommendation for dance recitals

Hi guys (and gals), I need some advice. I just sold my 85 1.8 due to being to short. Although I loved the ability to shot in the dark. My daughter is on a performance team and I need a lens that is longer than my 85 due to not being able to be near a stage. What can work on a reasonable budget +-$600

you can get close to a used copy of the 135L f/2...might have to kick in another c note or two...

I agree with the 135L - the amount above your budget will be forgotten once you take your first shot.
