I have never tried to market calendars. I've given many away as gifts, and they're well-received.

But perhaps my thoughts on why I don't sell them can nonetheless be helpful.

Mpix charges roughly $20 for a calendar. For you to make a profit for the work involved, pricing would be at least doubled - total $40. Add to that shipping (if not marked up can be $5 to $8 ) and you're now selling a calendar for $45 to $48.

Considering the fact that people can go to their local bookstore or online and get calendars with beautiful pics at half that price, that makes it a hard sell.

You could sell non-profit at $25-28, but why?

Or you could get 250 to 500 press-printed on your own, which would lower your price, but it's an expensive gamble. And odds are you would not have room left in your closet for clothes.

It's not meant to be discouraging, but that's the realities of business.

The problem I have found is most people can take images into walmart and have calendar printed for $12-$15 so unless you have images they can't figure out a way to get you can't sell to them.

Hey Patrick, we've been doing some research on places where we could get calendars printed that would make them cost effictive and have yet to find a company that our price wont be around the $50 range, unless we buy in major bulk

If you find anything, make sure you post it up on here so we can all know about it

calendars are tricky to sell. I do a really big job where I printed 4000 calendars to sell @ $10 each and that was hard. No matter how good your photos and if even if it appeals to a specific demographic in which you are selling to, people just dont really care for printed calendars these days.

My recommendation is it is not worth all the work and money you will have to put in.

What type of products, other than prints, would you recommend?
